Distinctive marks
- Spurs: they are clear signs of the dog's typicalness to moving around on the mountains, among cliffs, ice and snow. These allow the dog to have a better adherence to the ground.
- Horn: that which is called "horn" is a protruding or prominent bone situated at the back of the skull, and very easy to feel with the hand. Its technical name is "occiput" and it is particularly developed in the Bergamo Shepherd Dog.
A tale tells how our breed made use of it to push the herd. It was considered a mark of intelligence, for it was believed to be the result of a greater cerebral mass.
