How we were

For the amateur hunting for information, here we quote the most significant judgements of the early National Dog-Shows to which some Bergamo Shepherd Dogs participated, collected in the Official Bulletins of the Italian Kennel Club.
The presence of subjects with their ears cut was frequent, and that of subjects with "gazzuolo" (blue) eyes not rare. The few photos accompanying the judgements portray dogs with a long and flowing fur, but almost without "taccole".
It is difficult to draw reliable conclusions, also considering that the subjects that meanwhile were keeping on working with the herdsmen in the alpine pastures were absent from the dog-shows, but represent a datum to be taken into consideration.
